The Back 9 . . .
is a 9 step program that the youth will partake in while being a participant of “1 Stroke”. These 9 steps are geared toward addressing the issues, that birth in some cases, the inappropriate gang and criminal behaviors of our participants. While using these 9 steps, the instructors will begin to open an avenue for a new way of thinking. This includes new ideals, personal goals, creativity, and a renewed spirit to over coming their adversities. With these tools, the youth can see a new way of life, other than gang activity. When available a speaker will be on hand to discuss their success and ways that they overcame adversities in their lives. Upon completing the 9 step course, a certificate of completion will be presented to those who have successfully completed the program.
 
10th Hole
Recognize the problems, indifferences, and voids that has caused the youth to participate in gang activity or display at risk behaviors.
1)Individual intake assessments
2)One-on-One and Group Discussion Session

11th Hole
Identify the cause of the problems, indifferences, and voids. Get to the root or origin of the issue that confronts the youth. During this session, the identified causes of the problems will be discussed. The objective of this step is for the client to reach a place of understanding and not necessarily acceptance.

12th Hole
Discuss the consequences and repercussions of not addressing these issues and the effect it can have on there lives.
1)Visit to correctional facilities if permitted.
2)Discussions of punishments and costs.

13th Hole
Develop a strategy to address the key issues participants encounter in their communities 1)Family and community support 2)Social service referral

14th Hole
Introduce to the youth the concept of “The Battle Is Not Yours”. 1)Faith based information will be used to create a willingness to forgive themselves and others. 2)Make written or verbal apologies to those whom the participants have offended. 3)Speak with those that have committed similar offenses in their lives, but have gone on to be productive citizens.

15th Hole
The letting go of certain issues and understanding that some things are just out of their control. 1)Here the participant will be introduced to the concept of “Crazy Faith”. 2)Rebirth of “Trust” in themselves as well as others.

16th Hole
The healing process begins, now The Re-Birth of Our Youth! 1)The Birth of that more positive and self motivated Youth. 2)The claiming of a new and positive lifestyle

17th Hole
A New Beginning and the responsibility to themselves and the community 1)Through the partnerships with local organizations and other role models of the surrounding communities, mentoring will be continued to the participants that have completed the program

18th Hole
A round of golf at a local course to celebrate the completion of the program
